I almost said Happy Monday, before realizing it is in fact Tuesday! I’m a little throw from being gone over the weekend and trying to play catch up now. Cooper, Lincoln and I took a road trip to Ohio to visit my family over the weekend. It was 2 of my sister’s birthdays, so we wanted to be together to celebrate! The drive from here isn’t terrible, but I was a bit nervous to drive the 6 hours with no other adult. Cooper was fantastic, helping Lincoln anytime he needed anything and we danced and sang our little hearts out.
We got there Friday evening and spent the next 40 hours not doing much more than spending time together. My sister has a beautiful house and it was great to stay there with her, my brother in law and their 4 littles. I got to see my little sister’s new house, since she moved just a few minutes away and my mom and baby sis came up from Tennessee.
We split up to see as many of 3 kid’s basketball games as we could on Saturday, then it was off to eat lots of Mexican food. We spent the afternoon around the island, drinking coffee, watching my baby sis color hair (she’s in cosmetology school) and chatting for hours. We had cake and opened presents, then spent the night sipping wine and chatting like we always do. I’m so incredibly grateful to be so close to my family.
Our trip was a bit different than our normal road trips, since we took it in this Mitsubishi Outlander Sport! It was a perfect size for the 3 of us and our tons of luggage. It handled on the rain and snowy roads like a charm and was fun to drive. Cooper especially loved the long sunroof that it made it feel “like a convertible”.
I think this trip will forever be such a good memory for Cooper and I, especially. Now that I have 3 kids, it becomes really hard to have quality time with them individually. The drive was such a wonderful time to chat about everything and really feel close. It made me realize that I need to carve out this time with each of my boys, even if it’s just an afternoon. It’s so important to hold the ones you love close to you, especially your little ones!
