Call me crazy, call me adventurous. But Saturday morning, we embark on this:
San Ramon, CA – Grand Canyon, AZ – Washington, DC
5 days – 3,051 miles

I’ve already planned out all our stops and hotels. We will be driving 9-10 hours a day and stopping in Kingman, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Oklahoma City, OK, and Nashville, TN. And if that isn’t crazy enough, the car has to be filled with everything I need for the next 2-3 months. All our stuff will be stored in Michigan until we move into a house, so theres no way I’m getting to it. I already warned the hubs that there will be TONS of shopping in this girls future. I’m not wearing the same 7 outfits for 3 months!
The next few days are going to be sheer madness. This is all happening so fast, that I can’t really wrap my head around it. I know it will all be worth it when we get moved and settled, but leaving my friends here feels like I am leaving a little piece of me behind. You know who you are, and I miss you already!
If anyone has suggestions of fun things to do along I-40, let me know!
I made the drive from Temecula cali, to Colorado. Not as far as you but I know how you feel. Most my stuff is back in Temecula.
Oh wow! It's difficult for me to drive from DC to east TN. I can't even imagine! I'm sure it will be an adventure. Have a safe trip!

Hubby and I love road trips and we've always wanted to do a cross country – I am so jealous you get to do it! Take lots of pictures, and the Grand Canyon is AMAZING so be sure to really stop there and check it out. Good luck!!
Molly girl that is going to be one fun road trip I LOVE road trips although I mostly sleep while the hubby drives I still Love seeing new things..I will be praying for ya'll to have a safe trip drive carefully and make sure you buckle up…GOOD LUCK!!!! I hope you enjoy it..

The zoo in Nashville is pretty decent! Also, along 440 just outside of Nashville, there's the Cheesecake Factory!
holy smokes woman, that is one heck of a drive. take some sleeping pills…but then again you'll have to look after coop. shucks. there goes my brilliant plan.
Good grief, that looks nuts! You and the hubs are brave brave people to make that trip with a toddler in the car.
I don't have any road trip suggestions, but as for the shopping, once you get to DC/VA, head out to Potomac Mills in Woodbrige. It's pretty much the best outlet mall ever. And yes, it has a Forever 21. =)
I still can't believe you are driving girl! I know you guys can handle it. Cooper is always a good sport and it will be an adventure that while maybe not always super fun when its happening, you will have fond memories of in the future. We will miss you out here for sure…

Well, considering I just made that drive A FEW WEEKS AGO!! 😉
In Albuquerque I stayed at the Sandino Courtyard Suites, off I-40, and it was pretty nice. In OK City, I stayed at the Sheraton in Midwest City, just past OK City and it was REALLY nice, and not expensive. I highly recommend it. Best Buy & Target were really close by. Nashville has the BEST shopping – the Opry Outlet mall!! You HAVE to go there, they have a Banana Outlet that has tons of awesome stuff.

Oh my goodness, what a long drive. I'm not a very good car rider, so I have no advice….sleep I guess. Hee!hee! I agree with the comment above about shopping in Nashville. Have college friends there and the shopping is fabulous. Enjoy and keep us posted on your journey. Take lots of pics so we can see all of the sites!

I've identified with you so much as you've talked about being homesick and longing to be near your family. While my job hasn't taken us as far from home (we moved to Florida from South Carolina), it still hurts – especially now that I'm 18 weeks pregnant. So excited that y'all get to head back East! 🙂
