I talked about our New York Summer trip over on Instagram when we got back to Michigan. We love going to upstate New York to visit family, but tend to go in the beautiful fall season, or around the holidays when more family is there. We rarely go in the summer since it’s hot and we are usually traveling to the beach or staying home by the lake. I think the last summer trip was when we stayed in NYC and saw the Mets! The timing of our trip was simply because of this move to Michigan. The fact that we had a little time between when we got here and when school started. A little fear things will shut down faster there in the winter and we might not get there to see family and friends for awhile.
What an amazing gift God gave us to be there. The Hubs dad had a heart attack and he was the only one home with his dad. There have been a lot of ugly what ifs in our mind, but we keep coming back to the fact that God’s timing is MORE than perfect. He has such a plan for all our lives, even when we might not understand it all in that moment. This picture was after Pa spent 5 days in the hospital and was home, happy and healthy!
Despite all the events that happened, we were able to enjoy our time and really saw everything through fresh eyes. Seeing my boys play basketball on the same hoop their dad played on as a kid was pretty dang amazing.
Now is the point where I will just photo dump my favorite memories! Wine sipping with Pa’s garden in view. Picking veggies for grilling dinner. Plenty of cousin time with more than enough walks to ice cream. Dinner by the river and most importantly, time with people we love!
We also have a lot of friends in upstate New York that we were able to spend time with. The Hubs lived there his entire life, until we moved to California when he was 26. I went to nursing school there and had my first nursing job. We got married there. Lots of special memories!
Another really special memory, is Lambie Jr. 🙂 If you’ve read this blog at all, you know Lincoln loves his Lambie that my in-laws gave him at birth. On the last day of the packers being at our house, we realized Lambie was missing. They accidentally packed her! Lincoln held it together better than I did, but I was really sad for him not to have his security blanket during the biggest transitions of his life. When we got to NY, my sis-in-law told me that her parents gave her newborn one, but she wasn’t using it yet. She ended up giving it to Lincoln and they’ll get another from Amish country in Pennsylvania. Lambies birthplace. Hehe. Long story, but this kid is VERY happy to have “Lambie Jr.” who happens to have way more fluff than the original, now matted down one!
Now that we’re in Michigan, who knows, New York Summer Trips might become a bit more frequent!
