Last weekend, we took a quick little getaway to Asheville! We had never been and were ready for a little relaxing. The only plan we made was the hotel reservation. We just wanted to go with the flow.
It didn’t take long after checking in to The Biltmore for these guys to get really cozy!
I know Asheville is known for it’s amazing food. I had a long list of restaurants, but some of them weren’t kid friendly and by the time we got there, we were just ready to eat! We stopped at Juicy Lucy’s, which is a little away from downtown, but very close to The Biltmore. It was an incredibly indulgent and completely delicious meal. I got a blue cheese burger, stuffed with american cheese. The Hubs split his bacon-something-amazing with me and I wish I was eating either of them right now!
Good thing I wore something loose fitting…
We made a total rookie mistake and booked a single room without a balcony. We haven’t done that in many years, but didn’t want to spend a ton on this trip. Well, we paid for it. Haha. Lincoln wasn’t interested in the slightest in going to sleep when he could see everyone in the room. He was cranky and over tired, when at 9pm, we finally had to turn all the lights out and everyone go to sleep. I mean, The Hubs and I may have had a glass of wine in the pitch black room. Haha. So, I wasn’t really surprised when at the first noise outside, Linc woke up. AT 6AM. ON A SATURDAY. I know I’m spoiled, but my boys sleep until 8 or so on the weekends and that’s what I like, y’all!
The good part was, we were all up, showered and out of the room by 7:30. Which was good, because at the recommendation of our entire neighborhood, we wanted to eat at Biscuit Head. We stood in line a few minutes while we waited for them to open and I’m glad we got there when we did. There was a line out the door the whole time we were there!
Once we got our food, I knew why…I got a fried chicken biscuit that had cole slaw, sweet potato butter and a poached egg on it. It was absolutely not finger food! So delicious!
Good thing my theme was baggy tops…

After breakfast, it started to warm up, so we did a quick change before exploring The Biltmore.
The grounds are absolutely amazing. We were in awe as we were just driving through. We were about to get tickets to go on a tour of the actual house when we ran into one of my friends from here in Charlotte. As Lincoln wiggled all the way out of my arms, she suggested we better not take him in. There are 4 floors and only 2 of them are stroller friendly. We were already on the fence with his lack of sleep, so we decided to spend our time outside exploring.
There was plenty to do, from a conservatory, gardens galore, a farm, playground, winery, shopping, restaurants and lots of hiking trails. I felt bad because Cooper wanted to go in, but it will absolutely be on our list for a year or two from now!

Since we stayed at The Biltmore, we could walk all around the grounds for no additional cost. If we were to go again and actually go on the house tour, I might stay in another hotel that’s in the downtown area. That way, you can still walk the grounds if you buy a house pass and you’d probably get a better rate outside of the actual grounds. The hotel itself was gorgeous and super romantic, though! I’d love to go back in the spring when all the gardens are in bloom, because they were gorgeous just green. I can’t imagine them in full color!
Hope you’re having a great week!
