We kicked off the Christmas season over the weekend with a big Christmas party! We wanted to invite our new Michigan friends for our first real season in our house. I couldn’t believe, once everyone got together, just how many great people we have met here. Between neighbors and friends from all the boys different sports and classes, we packed our house with 38 people!
I love a big spread of food and decided I needed to create a Christmas charcuterie board. I’ve done many in in the past, including one for Christmas. I just made some additions for a new spin on it and incorporate a bit more than just cheeses.
Christmas Charcuterie Board
I loved how the board turned out this year! I spent a good 2 days buying and prepping and creating absolute chaos in the kitchen, but it was worth it!
I started with a roll of natural color craft paper. Doing this makes for the easiest cleanup! I set out bowls and a couple trays for later items before I set out all the cheese.
Next up, I lay all the meats out, wrapping them a bit around the cheeses or bowls.
Next up is all the crunchy stuff – pretzel thins, crackers, breadsticks. I use a big variety of these so everyone can find something they like.
The final step is to fill in all available spaces. I do this with berries, sugared cranberries, Oreo truffles, nuts, chocolates and grapes. The bowls get pickles and olives – whatever varieties you prefer.
The donut hole trees were a fun addition this year! I added in some rosemary sprigs and a chocolate Merry Christmas that I made out of almond bark. I also made the classic bisquick sausage balls and this pastry wrapped cranberry brie.
I also totally forgot to take a picture of my drink station, but I made the Bourbon Punch that Brittany always makes for her Christmas party and served it in my grandmother’s antique punch bowl. I love pulling out things like this for the holidays!
Once the party started, I literally took no pictures. I can’t believe myself! But I did get a couple from friends who were here. Next year I have to remember to get a group shot!
Now I’m fully in the Christmas spirit and can’t wait to have the boys off school and home!
