I started to panic a bit when I tried to order an egg dye kit last week and it didn’t come in. I had been putting a lot of pressure on myself to keep things “perfect” around here and I’ve had to take a deep breath and realize that it isn’t about perfection. It’s about health, making memories and being a positive support for our kids during this time.
This time of unsettledness might be the birth of new traditions and favorite memories.
Maybe we’ll start filling eggs for our own personal hunt with leftover Valentine’s Day candy every year. Maybe our normal Easter traditions will be replaced with some that are really special. Maybe this year will open our eyes to needing less and being content with living a bit more simply.
I’m actually looking forward to watching church online and spending the day with my boys. Oh and that egg dye kit I was stressed about? Found 6 of them while cleaning out the holiday stuff in my basement. It was an embarrassing reminder to me that I need to stop stressing about things!
No onto our Easter menu! I am going pretty traditional, since that’s what the family consensus was. For breakfast, I always make these cute little Cinnamon Bun Bunnies and the kids love them! At the boys request, we’ll have brunch and then dinner later in the afternoon. Thankfully I was able to get everything I needed for our Easter menu!

I totally forgot about dessert and am not going to be shopping anymore, so we’ll be seeing what we have the ingredients for tomorrow and go from there. I usually make Easter egg cake pops and those are super fun for the kids, if you’re up for a bit of a challenge! The boys have been cooking so much here that I’m excited to set them free in the kitchen to make the dessert they want.
I hope that this weekend is a wonderful one for you and your family and that you’re able to take it slow, with peace over perfection. Happy Easter weekend!
