We had the best weekend for a travel tournament with our Baseball family to Milwaukee, WI! This is the second time we’ve been over to Milwaukee and it’s not too bad of a drive from Grand Rapids. I wanted to try the ferry over Lake Michigan, but it was going to be almost $500 for us and the car to cross. WHAT?! Drive down around Chicago in our rental we have named “black magic” it was!
We left super early and I absolutely snoozed in the car. The Hubs woke me up for brunch at First Watch. It was my first time there and very good!
The first game was Friday afternoon and the boys absolutely dominated! It was so fun to watch them be so excited and winning.
We went and checked into our hotel, which we picked for it’s waterpark. The kids played for a bit in there before we were off to a Milwaukee Brewers game with the whole crew.

Thankfully the stadium has a dome roof and we didn’t know it was pouring rain until we had to run in it all the way to the car! The Brewers hit a grand slam that was super exciting for everyone to see. We got back to the hotel pretty late and all crashed.
We got lucky with the 8am game and were up early early! I literally rolled out of bed and into my favorite outfit to wear on game day! The boys won again and were done in time for brunch with our friends.

I had seen good reviews about The Coop and loved the name, so we tried it out. Everyone raved about their food but 1 person who happens to be the pickiest eater in the world. Also happens to be my husband. 🙂
Back to the hotel for lots of water slide fun! It was Great Wolf Lodge like, but way less crowded. I went down the slides over and over and screamed every time!
After a break and washing all the chlorine off of us, we took to a big grassy area behind the hotel for a massive family whiffle ball game. That was a highlight of the trip and we had so much fun. Kids vs Moms. Kids vs Dads. So much fun and beautiful weather! We ate pizza outside before ending the day back in the water park.
Sunday, our game didn’t start until 6:30pm, so we went out to Lake Pewaukee for brunch at Sunset Grill. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was great. The food was pretty good and we enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the views.
The boys were the first seed, so they had a buy for the first playoff game. The game they played was the one just before the championship game. The team they played seemed solid and beat them 7-3. It was a sad loss and some tears were shed. We later found out that the team brought in players from a higher up division and that, I’m sure, was what got them to victory. A good lesson that life isn’t always fair and people won’t always play with good character. But such is life, right?
We didn’t leave until around 9pm central time and prepared ourselves for a super late night getting home. We stopped for ice cream to celebrate a great weekend, even though it didn’t end in a trophy! And since we didn’t get any full family pictures all week, I made them cheese for a timer pic in the Culvers parking lot!
The reality of it being July and that being moving month hit me super hard when we got home. Especially having spent a whole weekend with friends we love so much and a baseball family that is absolutely incredible. I’ve been so happy about being back in NC weather and being near old friends, but I really love this special community we have here. Moving day will be very difficult and this month a slew of emotions. Right now just trying to focus on getting all the things prepped we need, finding a car to buy and trusting God to keep guiding our steps!
