As I wrote my 2017 wrap up, I noticed that the amount of “personal” posts declined throughout the year. I was sad when I didn’t see too many weekend wrap-ups or general documenting of my life; which is why I started this blog in the first place! So, I’m going to try to maintain a good balance this year, including grainy cell phone photos of the mundane. Because when when I look back on 2018, I don’t want to just remember the big vacations and photo shoots. I want to remember the lunches at school, the weekend snuggles, the meals we loved eating together and the ball games that were played. So without further ado, here’s this weekend’s wrap-up!
On Friday, I got to go on Cooper’s 4th grade field trip with him. I’m really not sure who was more excited about this, but I think we both had a blast. We spent about 7 hours on a bus, 7 hours in Raleigh at the Capitol, The History Museum, Science Museum and Legislative Building and 1.5 hours at a roadside Burger King.
Saturday morning, Callan played his second basketball game. The guy is so athletic and just loves the game. He’s a total standout on his kindergarten team and I love watching him in the spotlight.
I somehow convinced Lincoln to “get cozy” with me that afternoon because I was still exhausted from the day before! It didn’t last long and I don’t really do well at relaxing, so it worked fine.
One thing that has been on our todo list for awhile, is replacing our bathroom faucet! This might seem like a minor thing, but neither of us are really handy. Like at all. But I’m not scared of anything, so when we got the replacement faucet in the mail a couple months ago, I told The Hubs I was going to install it. He said no and that we would call a plumber. Well, our kitchen sink had issues around Christmas and the plumber was a long wait, so we did it ourselves. And I was pumped. We saved like $200 with those handy YouTube videos and grew some bravery to try the sink. Amazingly, it works and is perfect and took us about 30 minutes. It was so easy and I can’t believe we let it sit so long!
On Sunday, we went to church and every week I say we’re going to start getting weekly family pictures and we don’t. We’re always rushing out the door and everyone’s hungry and ready to get home afterwards! So home we went and we stayed up late watching a movie and hanging out. We actually all fell asleep on the couch!
Monday was a day off for everyone but The Hubs. I went to my normal gym class and then came home to make a more time consuming breakfast than normal. These sweet potato waffle breakfast sandwiches are a favorite here.
We’re on day 14 of Whole30, so I’ve been spending tons of time in the kitchen. I feel like I finish cleaning from one meal, just to start prepping for the next. But, it sure does feel good to be healthy and I’m feeling some pretty good results so far! Now to just keep my kitchen this clean for longer than 2.5 seconds…
Tomorrow, they’ve already called a 2 hour delay at school for some snow we’re supposed to be getting tonight! We missed the December snow when we were in Disney, so we all have high hopes here!
