I ALWAYS go shopping on Black Friday. Its tradition. I even posted a Fashion Friday: what not to wear post last year.
This year, I wasn’t feeling it. We were in NY and it was 20 degrees that night. My California blood was freezing. I usually have a list of stuff to go fight some people for, but I didn’t even have that this year. I knew I wanted to go look at toys for Coop, so the hubs and I had planned to go out just for that.
We went to Toys R Us for their special 10pm opening. Along with the rest of NY state. It was madness. We were in a massive line and were nowhere near the door at 10:30pm. We started hearing all the grumblings of people asking “what are we looking for here?” Which made me wonder the same thing. I wanted to slowly browse. (And sip my starbucks. And spend endless hours letting the Christmas magic soak in.)
So we left. Went to bed, slept until 9, then went shopping.
It was moderately peaceful by that time and I couldn’t help but think about the $10 in savings that ALMOST made me loose a night of sleep. So not worth it. I have decided that unless there is really big, money saving awesomness,
I’m going to sleep.
Cyber Monday? Now, that is a WHOLE different story. I’ll shop in my PJ’s any day.

I love Black Friday. It's my true Thanksgiving tradition – looking through the papers, scoping out my deals, and then planning my attack! I need to start remembering, however, that year after year I'm surprised by who I run into at 4 a.m. and stop going out looking like death. 🙂 This year, I ran into like 10 different people around 5 after being out since midnight. But it was fun!

We slept in Friday morning too. There wasn't anything there at 4am that wasn't there at 9am. 🙂

I decided the same thing this year. We didn't venture out until almost noon and I got the same deals everyone else did! LOL For the last 10 years I've always gone shopping early in the morning on Black Friday. This is the first year I didn't. I'm retiring!

I decided the same thing this year. Also, I am not sure how safe it is out there for pregnant women. I went out at like 8ish and it was still somewhat crazy.

I was one of the crazies out there fighting the crowds, but I loved every minute of it. I usually just go when I wake up, but this year actually set the alarm. I was with the rest of Oklahoma City waiting to get in Target at 4:00. I'm never upset if they run out of what I'm looking for because I really just go to be a part of all the action. NO ONE else in my family will go with…maybe when the little one gets a little older, we'll make it a Mommy/Daughter tradition!

I'm with you on Cyber Monday. My sleep is way more important than scoring a deal on Black Friday.

I'm with you on sleeping. If I had the money for the DSLR camera I want- I would've been out. But really- can't you match the price of most Black Friday deals on eBay anyway. We slept LATE- and only set foot in 1 store- Ross- about 3pm.

I totally skipped the early morning madness (that I really do usually LOVE) this year…didn't even leave my house Friday and it was actually really nice. 🙂

funny, I was in NYC too. We did went out on Friday night just to walk around. I've only done the black Friday thing once for a TV and even then I went at 10am. I'm so not a morning person.

I much prefer Cyber Monday. I don't do well in crowds.
