First things first, Happy Easter from our family to yours! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with a lot of family time and relaxing! Here’s our Easter weekend wrapup!
Friday started spring break for us and we’re staying local this year. We have a lot of travel coming up this summer, but there’s a lot of fun to be had in Charlotte! We took the fam to Defy Gravity last week and the boys were dripping with sweat. They ran, jumped, dodgeball and ninja-ed their way through that place! If you’re in the Charlotte area, it’s a PERFECT spot to take your kids this week to blow through some energy!
We spent the day Friday out on the lake with some friends and the kids had a blast on our favorite Lake Norman island. I took an accidental polar plunge when the ball went in the water and I took a sprint out for it. Well, the floor of the lake can be quite uneven and there was a good drop off just before the ball…at least I rescued that thing!
We took the boys to a local Easter egg hunt on Saturday. It started well, then when Lincoln’s age group was done hunting, he was not pleased. I ended up bringing him to the car while the other boys had their turn. I was really embarrassed and wondered how many people thought I was kidnapping the kicking and screaming child. But I took a deep breath and remembered moments of both the big boys at 2. They did this same thing and I lived to tell about it. This too shall pass.
On to coloring eggs we went! I bought a Paas Shake and Color kit that you shake with rice and let me tell you. That is by far the best way to dye eggs! We had very little mess and some really pretty eggs!
Easter morning is always a fun mom moment for me. The boys baskets were filled, I made bunny cinnamon rolls and we all went to church. I even ironed everyone’s clothes the night before, which is something I never do! Haha.
After church, we came home and the boys went outside to play. The weather here was gorgeous! I took advantage of the quiet time to bake my little heart out. I decided on my granny’s lemon cake and it was just like I remembered. (Well, except for my lemon curd not being quite enough to cover the cake well!) I also made some Easter egg cake pops and later in the day, we did empty tomb rolls. Baking isn’t something I do much of lately, but I sure do love it!
I can’t get over how handsome all my boys looked all dressed up. It was a slight fight getting the big boys to pick out something that wasn’t athletic wear! I ended up giving them plenty of options and working with their tastes to agree on outfits. I never thought dressing boys would be such a chore!

We have some fun plans this week for spring break, but are planning on lots of relaxing and family time. My sister-in-law and her little family are coming Friday and I’m just praying for some warmth for them!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
