Family Night Traditions


Ever since our oldest started school, we’ve put a bigger focus on family nights around here. You don’t realize how much time you get with your kids until they’re off to school all day!  

 One thing that’s almost always on the to-do list? Pizza. 

Almost every Friday starts with the dinner that no one ever complains about. The boys like to have movie nights upstairs and you’ll often find us enjoying a very competitive game of Monopoly. The new Here and Now version is perfect for kids! 



Did I mention that I tend to win that Monopoly game? It may be a recent stroke of luck and Cooper is telling y’all that I cheated…which I absolutely didn’t. But it sure does make for some good laughs. 

While food is generally not allowed upstairs, family night is a fun exception. It makes it even more special when you can break the rules a bit! I’d like to think that the memories we make every weekend will last a lifetime. I remember when we had pizza nights when I was a kid and how fun it was! You just don’t forget those special times spent with your family. These days, it’s harder than ever to have undistracted time together, so we have to make more of an effort.

    I love that idea for family night! Our daughter is still young, but we try to go to grandma and grandpas house every week for Sunday dinner. It's great because we all get to sit down and see each other every week

    Aww how fun. We don't have any kids yet, but we have fun thinking of what our nights with them will be like. Right now, we like to do pizza night and movies. Lately we have been doing no phone date/family night and I have a feeling that will be a big one when we have kids too.

    I have a 4 year old and 21 month old. I cook every night because it is easier to eat at home than take 2 kiddos out to eat. We always have dinner as a family in the kitchen between 5-6 pm. My husband does bath time while I clean up the kitchen and than we sit down as a family and my oldest Carter who is four gets to pick a show or a movie and have either popcorn or ice cream or a cookie (some kind of dessert) and sit as a family and enjoy together time. Sometimes we play Disney dominoes or Candy Land while the show is on. We just love spending time together and we know after daddy gets home from work being together and spending time with the kids and our family is most important.

    We have family movie night – and watch family movies (new and old) or play a kids game with our 6 and 8 year old while trying to keep the 2 year old from messing it up! Pizza on Fridays is pretty popular around here too. Thank you!

    We love to watch movies together. Every other Friday we declare it to be family night & we cuddle upand watch a movie. It calm, relaxing & something we all enjoy after a busy week.

    When I was a kid it was Friday night movies, pizza, and everyone camped out and slept on the floor in the living room together definitely a tradition I will pass onto my children!! One of my favorite memories!

    We do pizza for family night too! We also recently started a new tradition recently where we go around the dinner table and each person shares something good that happened that day/what their favorite part of the day was. It's such a nice way to connect and learn more about what's going on with each other 🙂

    WE have family game night too!! But we play on XBOX 360 Just dance or Bowling. Its friendly family competition and gets us all up and off the couch and spending the evening in the livingroom together

    No kids here, so family is my cats and my man. hahaha! We like to just relax around the home and sit outside on the deck and listen to the birds sing and frogs croak, whenever possible. It is so nice and romantic and just meditative.
