Anyway, I was getting ready and I slipped my shoes on forgetting to take off my snuggly knee high Christmas socks. I looked in the mirror and loved what I saw. I asked the hubs if they could fly. (He usually doesn’t like my outfits, so I was prepared for the worst) He said I kindof looked like the legs from the Muppets, but it was festive and he liked it. SERIOUS?! Awwww yeah!
I headed out to the party and quickly realized I was overdressed, and that everyone was glancing down at my feet. One mom said “you look so fashionable!” I think that is code for “you are dressed really funky”. There were several moms there that I hadn’t met before. One asked me if I was just there to help with crafts. When I told her “no, I’m a mom”, she asked if I was a teenager. Mmm, thanks? It’s so obvious I don’t fit in with the “normal moms” in my mom’s club.
Whatevs, I didn’t even care. I loved my sparkly, festive, muppetish outfit and I love being a mom.
Moral of the story? Dress to make yourself happy, be comfortable in your skin, and just be you.
Outfit Deets:
Black shiny cropped pants – Old Navy
Red cardigan – Gap Outlet
Skinny black belt – Target
Sequin tank – AJ Wright (bought this like 4 years ago, and found it with the tags still on behind the drawer of my dresser!)
Black booties – Charlotte Russe
Muppet Christmas socks – Walmart day after Christmas last year.
Accessories – NONE! I can’t find them. They are in a box somewhere!

poor cooper.
you and i have almost the same booties, except mine has a bow in the back. is yours suede all over?
is that a sparkly belt or is it the trim of your tank top underneath?
SHUT UP! I am wearing those EXACT SAME SOCKS RIGHT NOW UNDER MY BOOTS!!! Weird!!! P.S. You look SO pretty!
The booties are awesome and your whole outfit is very nice. Red color accentuates the black in a very nice way.
Why am i always the only dude commenting on girly stuff?
Damn.
No wonder I get invited to GNO more often lately.
I like the festive muppet-y look. My step sister asked me one time why I was dressed up for a birthday party. Skanks don't understand fashion.
P.S. I love that Cooper has on Sperrys!!
I adore the sequin tank! So cute!!! Sounds like those moms are maybe a little old and boring??? 😉 I'm sure you looked cuter than all of them put together!
As someone who attended the party, I can say a couple things: 1) you looked festive and totally cute! You were not over/underdressed. 2) A lot of the moms in our club are duds 3) Many of them said some of those things because they do not think too much of themselves when they look in the mirror.
Dress for yourself is right! You looked great. I always feel better when I put time and effort into my outfit. Go girl!
P.S. You did a great job as the craft station queen.
You look great! Love the festive socks you wore with your outfit!!!
I love the outfit! You totally rocked it! As for the Mom groups, eh…I'm not too sure I'll be joining my local Mom's group. I have a feeling I'll probably stick out with my over the top accessories, heels and the fact that I'm 22.Keep being who you are 🙂
Awwww – that face he's got is just classic. Kaylee was less than impressed with Santa on her first Christmas, too. She just kept staring at him with this mean glare. And you GO, girl! I LOVE your outfit. It is so much fun! I am totally digging those boots, and those SOCKS! Heck yeah for just being YOU.
okay, i'm a spaz and deleted my last comment cause I cant spell to save my life.
I love it! You look gorgeous as usual! I always feel the same when I go to anything with a bunch of moms. I hate it. I'm usually the youngest one and most of the time i swear people think the worst. Like olivia wasn't planned or anything. I want young mom friends. You know, the ones that actually like their babies and wouldn't rather being getting drunk at the bars. 🙁
Aww poor Cooper! You look great! Love your outfit…and who cares what anyone else thinks. They were probably just jealous. 🙂
Those comments were all from moms who did not feel good about themselves. My brain would have thought "Man, I wish I looked like that" and maybe would have come out of my mouth something not so nice. Or I would have just been silently jealous. I never know what is gonna come out of my mouth these days. But just know you really were rocking it and they really were jealous.
(oh, and i will be joining your ranks of drowning in boxes…we went under contract today!)
I always get those comments…=)
One person said, I wish I had the guts to dress like you. Hmmmm….
I think you look fab. And your hair, girl. Dannnnnng.
poor Cooper….i dont blame him…creepy old man!!
LOVE those black booties…and I would have never have thought to wear them with stripped (mummet) socks and cropped pants…but you can TOTALLY pull it off!!
I cant believe someone asked if you were a teenager!! I think that the other maothers may be JeAlOuS that you are a smokin hott mama!!
I'm loving the socks. Too fun! And the little man looks adorable. The dude wasn't too fond of Santa either. : )
