If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my dress dilemma last week. I was going to a wedding, not sure what to wear and on the hunt for a dress the day before. I ended up at TJ Maxx and found this lace dress that I was in love with. Only problem was, I felt like it was just too dressy for the weeknight reception that we were going to. I bought it anyway, because I just liked it and figured I could go overdressed, or maybe find another event to wear it to.
After trying it on at home, I started playing around with the bottom of it. I folded it up and thought, man. I think this would be great short! I asked y’all on Instastories and a bunch of you said what I was thinking…CHOP IT! So I got out the fabric scissors from the sewing box my mom has so carefully made for me and went to town. I was nervous that I would ruin it, but I seriously love how it turned out!
I just ended up following some of the flowers outlines, to give it a more lacy look, rather than straight across. I actually found the dress online from the manufacturer, but the $30 from TJ Maxx worked better for me!
I thought I would share this with y’all so that you aren’t afraid to make some bold fashion moves; including, but not limited to, chopping up dresses to wear to a wedding!
