When I first started this blog, I wrote a lot more about personal stuff, I think. I posted a lot of my life, my struggles, my victories and my motherhood journey. I think I’ve gotten a bit detached from the more in depth stuff, simply because of fear. What if people think I’m crazy? Or that I’m a bad mom? If someone doesn’t like my outfit, that’s a much easier pill to swallow than someone not liking me as a person!
But, I don’t want to be so guarded anymore. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and although fashion is a big part of who I am, I don’t want this blog to just be that! So to start this season of openness, I decided to share some fun facts about myself that you probably don’t know!
My grandma owned a boutique in her little south Georgia town, so my online boutique, Molly Suzanne, is inspired by her.
I was homeschooled from Kindergarten all the way through highschool. While I don’t have anywhere near the patience to teach my kids, there were so many perks and looking back, it was really great. Except for that whole not going to prom thing. Hehe.
I’m a pediatric nurse. I went to school in New York and worked for about 9 years before and in between babies before taking a more serious break now that we’re in North Carolina.
I cook nearly every night. I love cooking and have since I was little. We blow our grocery budget nearly every month, but our restaurant budget always has extra.
I sang in a church band between the ages of about 13 and 16. We made 4 albums, flew or took busses to shows all over the east coast and to England. It was an amazing part of my teenage years!
I have never lived near my parents (or in-laws) as a parent. I sometimes get jealous of people who have their mom right down the street.
I have 3 sisters and 1 brother and never expected to have boys! I was 14 when my youngest sister was born and I actually delivered her at home…on purpose!
I was born in Georgia and also lived in Alabama and Florida growing up. I moved to New York with The Hubs and we’ve lived in California, Virginia and North Carolina since.
My Dad was a pastor nearly my whole childhood. It was hard being a pastor’s kid sometimes, but also really helped ground me. My faith is a huge part of my life and I want my kids to grow up with the same love for Jesus that we do.
I’m a really poor housekeeper. I used to have a pretty good handle on things, but my house is messy most of the time. I keep up on the cleaning portion, but since having a third baby, it’s never tidy here!
And speaking of cleaning, I also hate folding laundry. There are currently 4 unfolded baskets of clean clothes in my room.
I’ve had grey hair since I was 18. I have to color my roots every 3-4 weeks. I used to really be mad about it, but at least I’m not balding!
I love reality TV. I don’t watch nearly as much as I used to, but if I have to fold that laundry, you better believe there is something mind numbing in the background.
I hate reading. Like really hate it. I’ve had a book on my bedside table for at least 3 months and I haven’t even gotten through a chapter, even though I was so excited to read it.
I took special art and writing classes in high school and my self portrait looks exactly like 16 year old me. I wish I had kept it up more, but at least I can impress my kids with my sketches now.
I’m 5’2″ and The Hubs is 6’3″. I wore 4″ heels on our wedding day and he still had to bend down an awkward amount.
I always said all I wanted to be when I grew up was a wife and mom. I am completely blessed to be living my dream.
If there’s anything you want to know, ask away! Happy Friday!
