I used to do all these awards and surveys when I first started blogging. It was so much fun to kindof get to know people through them. Lately, I’ve been so caught up with my little blog calendar, that I haven’t allowed space for just the fun, get to know you stuff!
{the sunshine award is given to bloggers who’s posts brighten your day}
When Sarah nominated me for this sunshine award, I was honored. Although I haven’t been reading her blog for that long, I was instantly drawn to her. She’s just one of those people that you want to be friends with. Lucky for me, I think I’ve almost brainwashed her enough to move from the frigid state of Minnesota to be my neighbor. I have a lot caution taped off for her, her very handsome hubs and their sweet baby bundle, Crue. Go follow her, really. And check out their wedding pics that include the fair and corn dogs. Yes. She’s that awesome.
The Sunshine award rules are as follows:
1. Include the sunshine award icon in your post (above)
2. Link to the person who nominated you
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award
5. Link your nominees and let them know they’ve been nominated
Okay, onto the questions from Sarah!
What is your biggest joy? That’s easy. My boys. The tiny people that drive me to turn grey and run away as soon as daddy gets home, are also, hands down, the greatest joy of my life.
What is one of your favorite memories? I could talk about tons of favorite memories. Cooper’s first trip to Disney. Our first family vacation to Hawaii. Our wedding. But one I was just thinking about yesterday was when the hubs and I drove to Tijuana while we were living in California. I just wanted to cross the border and drink a margarita. Once we got there, I was terrified, ended up only drinking bottled beer and bought a large metal wine rack at a open air market for $12. We had to drive all the way back to San Francisco with the convertible top open because it wouldn’t fit in the car. It was such a fun adventure with the hubs.
What is your biggest fear? Something happening to my kids. I think that is something every mom fears.
What is your favorite thing about fall? All of the things! I love fall. If it could be fall and I could still get a tan, it would be perfection. My most favorite things, though, are pumpkin spice creamer and Bath and Body candles.
What is your favorite thing to wear/wardrobe staple? My favorite thing to wear would have to be my new cobalt heels. I’m currently obsessed with cobalt everything. The staple I wear most often would have to be my F21 skinny jeans. They’re $10.80, have the perfect amount of stretch and go with everything. I have 3 different sizes that go into rotation when I’m pregnant/postpartum.
You’re on a road trip…what cd do you play? I vividly remember a road trip I made by myself from Florida to Michigan. It was snowing and I was heading to get the hubs before we moved to California. I listened to Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. I listened to it like 17 times and I don’t know that I’ve put in a CD since then? Right now, my choice would probably be Luke Bryan radio on Pandora. This girl loves some country music.
Favorite quote? I used this in the speech I gave for my nursing school graduation and I’ve loved it ever since. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Favorite thing to buy? Shoes. No clothes. No anything on sale. I’m Target’s dream customer. I’m wooed by the clearance tag, even when it’s only 10% off.
Dream vacation is… Quiet, a beach and no plans. Shoot. I’d probably settle right now for a room by myself at the Holiday Inn. If I’m dreaming, though, the hubs and I would love to go to Europe. It’s still undecided if we take the boys or wait a bit and go just us. I’m pretty terrified to leave the country without my kids. But back to that hotel room…
What’s your favorite piece of advice? To never compare yourself to others. Someone else’s success doesn’t indicate your failure and vise versa.
I nominate a couple of my best blog friends and some new ones:
Rachel at Running Backwards in High Heels
Kenzie at Life According to Kenz
Lindsey at Let the Light Shine
Emily at Life with Emily
Heather at Live, Love, Laugh
Natalie at My Crazy Busy Life
Rachel at Rachel’s Nest
Darlene at Tales of a Young Mamma
Stephanie at Lexie Loo, Lillie Boo & Dylan Too
And here are your questions:
1. What is your favorite thing about your significant other?
2. When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grow up?
3. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. What’s your cocktail of choice?
4. What is your proudest moment in life?
5. Have you had your first “I am my Mother” moment? If so, what was it?
6. Where is your favorite place to shop?
7. If you won $1,000,000, what is the first thing you’d do with it?
8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
9. What is the worst and best gift you’ve ever gotten?
10. What is your favorite current fashion trend?
And anyone else that wants to answer these questions and post on your blog, go for it!

Oh I remember these awards! I used to do them a lot too, and I agree – such a fun way to get to know others better.
I'm the same way about clearance. If I see a little red tag, it must be mine!

I am curious about one thing. Are you planning on more children? The F21 skinny jean note prompted this thought! 🙂

aw love these and I'll do my questions during nap time! So fun to get back to these 🙂 I hear ya on the europe with out kids or with. We did without two summers ago, and ever since I've said I'll never do it again. For one it was waaay to long to be gone from Jasper (T wasn't born yet) and you can't just do a quick long weekend there! And two, Drew and I have gotten into the show Revolution. Have you seen it? If you haven,t you should, but theres a scene where one of the ladies is carrying around her iphone that no longer works (all power is out everywhere) and because of that she can't get on a plane back to Australia and her boys. She has no clue if they are dead or alive, and knows she will never know/see them again. I know this is a stretch, but as soon as I saw that and turned to Drew and said "I'm never going to be on a different continent then my children." I would be able to walk across the country to get to them if all modes of transportation were to stop working. But swim across the ocean I can't do! We are planning a June trip to Sweden/Iceland/Norway/Corsica for next summer WITH the kids, and I have a feeling it will be the trip of a life time 🙂 And wow that was a novel!
