We’ve had the best few days in a row here over Memorial Day Weekend! We went nonstop from company to holiday to a quick family trip. And we lived to tell about it all!
Thursday night, my family started arriving from Ohio and Tennessee. I’ve been so looking forward to spending time with them! On Friday, we spent the majority of the day on the lake, followed by a family whiffle ball game and a bonfire.
By Friday night, everyone had arrived, so we did a repeat lake day on Saturday, complete with lots of tubing and wake boarding.
On Sunday, we went back out to the lake after church. We had a fun dinner at Apps & Taps, followed by some sunset cruising, trifle eating and a sing-a-long. My brother plays guitar and one of my favorite things is having the family all together for some music making.
On Monday, everyone headed back home and we left for Atlanta! Remember the Met game we went to that got rained out? Well, Memorial Day happened to be the rain makeup game, so we went! By the time we got to the stadium, the skies were pretty darn dark. Within a few minutes, it was raining and raining pretty hard. We were nervous about the weather before we left, but didn’t want to not go and miss if they actually played the game. Well, 3 hours of a rain delay later and the Mets and Braves were playing ball!
The stadium was pretty empty by the start. Shocking that no one wanted to sit in the rain for 3 hours! We ended up getting to go all the way to the 3rd row and the boys went right in the front row for a lot of the game! The players were waving to us, threw the boys 5 balls and were just so close! The boys were out of control excited, eating popcorn, milkshakes at midnight and dancing every time the camera spanned to them. It was one of the most magical nights ever! The Mets won and we ended up leaving the stadium around 2am. Surprisingly, all the boys stayed awake and were really well behaved! Needless to say, they slept until we woke them at 11am to go home the next day!
I had a couple questions about where we stayed and we picked the Holiday Inn Express both trips. It’s a great hotel, within walking distance of the park and has a breakfast buffet sure to please a bunch of little boys! Haha.
I feel like I need to sleep a good long while to recover from all the late nights and busy days! But only 8 more days of school here and the excitement is almost too much to contain. I can’t wait to turn that daily alarm off for the whole summer!
