It’s been just over a week since we made our big move and left our home in North Carolina. It’s been emotional – exciting, terrifying, happy and sad. But we are excited for this time with our little family and for the adventures we’re about to have. The new house is coming along so quickly and we’re having a blast watching it come to life!
The movers packed everything we weren’t bringing into the apartment at rapid speed. Within 5 days, our entire house was in a truck on the way to Michigan. We packed the rest into a U-haul and said goodbye to each room in our home for the last 7.5 years. It was so strange to walk through out empty house, but we shared our favorite memories in each room and thanked it for all the good times before leaving.
We unloaded into our apartment (which we never saw before we got there!) and tried to get as settled as possible. It’s an interesting feeling when you want to be settled, but know you have to pack it all up in a couple months! We brought furniture that we plan to get rid of before the new house, so we won’t have quite as much to move! We also have a huge attached garage that is so great for storage and we were able to put an extra refrigerator out there as well.
On to the new house! It’s coming right along and it’s really fun to be able to watch it. This week, we’re getting exterior doors, windows and a roof! We have our electrical walk-through next week and we plan to write scriptures on the framing, just like we did in our last house.
We left just a few days after we arrived in Michigan to come visit my husbands family in New York. With only a few days there, we didn’t had too much time to explore, but we did spend a day at the beach on Lake Michigan. It was amazingly gorgeous and I’m really looking forward to exploring our new city a lot more!
