Y’all know I love a good theme party and I really wanted to throw one last hurrah at our Michigan house! I got a PR box from NBC in preparation for the Olympics and knew that I had to run with the theme. I used a lot of leftover July 4th stuff, but also added in plenty of olympic flare!
The centerpiece of the island were these mini cheesecakes in gold muffin wrappers. I used classic graham crackers instead of vanilla wafers, then topped with strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, blueberries and chocolate chips for the colors of the Olympic rings.
The American Flag cheeseboard was super fun to put together and incredibly easy! 2 rows of meat, 3 cheese types, cherry tomatoes and a blue corner of blueberries and blackberries. I cut stars out of havarti cheese sandwich slices and served with American Flag crackers. The trophy was filled with popcorn mix of pretzels, popcorn, red, white and blue almond bark and gold sprinkles.
The margarita pouches were a hit! I ordered the drink pouch bags from Amazon. I started a couple days before the party blending up 3 cups of red premade margarita mix (I got the Kirkland one from Costco) with a full blender of ice. I filled each bag 1/3 of the way and put in the freezer. The next morning, I added a layer of classic margarita mix, blended the same way. Lastly, I found a blueberry margarita mix for the top layer. I think each layer would take only a couple hours to set up enough to add the next layer and you can also make these several days in advance!
Now for the FUN! We got a literal massive inflatable obstacle course from Grand Rapids Bounce Houses. I wanted some activities set up and this thing proved to be an absolute blast! We set up a boys vs girls flip cup through obstacle course relay and it was so freaking fun! The boys won by a bit, but fun was had by all! It was also an incredibly good workout. 🙂 We kept running through as it got dark and that became extra fun and difficult!
We also had a bonfire going and lots of rounds of corn hole. I probably should have planned some more games to really make it Olympics, but it was a pretty last minute party!
Super thankful for this crew of sweet girls that I have been so blessed to meet here in Michigan! I will truly miss living near them!
