I think the thing I hate spending money on the most is gas. It just costs so much, disappears so quickly and eats up money I’d much rather be shopping with.
(Yes, yes I do. Sign me up.)
We buy a lot of gas. My car gets 14 MPG on a good day. A really good day. A day that it’s not in the stop-and-go of DC traffic which is really anywhere you go around here. Oh, and did I mention that it takes premium gas? Yeah, no fun. The hub’s car gets much better gas mileage, but he drives between 30,000-35,000 miles a year. That requires a lot of gas.
We are also what I like to call road trip warriors. We’ve never been scared of packing up the car and driving endless hours. We’ve driven from Florida to New York, from New York to California and from California to DC. We drive 14 hours to the beach at least once a year. We drive to my parents in Georgia. We drive to the hub’s hometown in NY. With kids, sometimes I think it’s just easier than flying, even though it may take longer. When they start to lose it, you’re not embarrassed. You don’t break a sweat while frantically folding strollers and tossing babies to each other while encountering mean glares in security.
When I heard about the Fuel Rewards Network™ program, or FRN program, I was intrigued. With 3 trips to NY in a matter of 4 weeks this spring, I wanted to jump at any way to save gas money. So I went quick-like to Shell to get my FRN Card. (You can also just request it online, but I was in a hurry to save!)
What is the Fuel Rewards Network program? It’s a free loyalty program that helps you save money on fuel. You can earn fuel reward points on purchases you already make and you redeem your points at the pump to watch your price drop.
You can earn points by shopping online through the FRN online mall. You can earn points through dining out. You can also earn points through participating grocery stores and there are a lot of them! All you do is link your grocery savings card with your FRN account online and boom. Watch the points rack up!
Giant is a store around here that they work with. I already easily linked my grocery card to my Fuel Rewards Network account!
The really nice thing about this program, that sets it apart from others, is that you can stack your savings. People literally save $1, $2 and even $3 off per gallon (according to fuelrewards.com on 5/6/13)! There is a leader board on the site for the top savers that day and I totally want on it. At the rate I’m going with these points, it won’t be hard to hit, either!
So instead of crying over how expensive gas is, I’m going to rack up the Fuel Rewards Network points and save big!
Visit the Fuel Rewards Network program to sign up for your free account and their Facebook to keep up with special ways to multiply your savings!

With four people in our family driving, fuel rewards are greatly appreciated!
This gas card would definitely help us as we travel from MI to GA to visit family this summer! Thanks!

It would help out with fuel costs for work commuting. I drive over an hour one way to work. I love my job but hate the commute.
We have not been on a vacation in years….looking into doing a road trip this summer. The fuel rewards would help us save so much money on our trip…maybe we could even splurge on a hotel for a night or two…rather than camping.
