I feel like a freakin’ rockstar! Thanks to Jessica Sienfield and her lifesaver of a book Deceptivly Delicious, I am rockin the food pyramid like nobodies buisness. A few days ago, I was in the dumps over my child’s eating habits. You can see my previous dismay here.
Today, Cooper’s menu included:
Recipes from the book with *
Breakfast:
Yobaby Yogurt
2 Sweet Potato Pancakes *
Snack:
Diced apple
Lunch:
Tender Chicken and Stars (Earth’s Best Organic baby food with peas and carrots)
Banana
Dinner:
Meatballs made with butternut squash puree *
Cheese cubes
Dessert:
1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries)
If you were counting, you would know that is 2 meats, 2 dairy, 1 whole grain, 3 veggies and 3+fruits. *Insert happy dance* He is not so into milk, and I think it is upsetting his stomach, but we are working on that one. I have said countless times today as Cooper put something in his mouth he would otherwise spit out, “Haha, gotcha!” Yep, to my 1 year old. I am up for no Mom of the year awards. In your face Dr. Sears.

I love it! I would be laughing in my child’s face as well! Haha. I bought that book from my best friend for Christmas and she’s done some of the cookies that she said were delicious! I hope I can manage to feed my kids healthy meals like this!
Can you make a bunch of the pancakes and meatballs and freeze them? That would make life so much easier! Who the heck has so many random purees(or things to puree) in their house on a day to day basis!?

Yay!! So excited for you! I had a picky eater, too. He loved the Pediasure flavored drinks instead if milk – give those a try!

Anything that gets your child to eat and to eat healthy is a very good thing. Congrats on your success! I saw the Oprah episode when she highlighted the book you are using. Looks like a great resource.
Well done.

I am glad you found a menu that Cooper will love! It sounds like you are much happier now that he is eating more than a teaspoon. I didn’t like milk when I was little and I still don’t like it, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

Good for you! Now make sure you eat some of these with him and show him you enjoy whole real food too and he will have the BEST start ever.
Good job! Caring about your kids and being proactive is awesome!

Crap I would fail his test too, I better go take it and step up a notch. Jakey is so picky so I need to work on changing that, not only that but he won’t eat! I do have the Jessica Seinfield book so I better start using it!
