Summer seems to be quickly fading for all of us, huh? I know we have a lot more time left than some, with starting school at the end of the month, but I’m already feeling the pains of the kids being gone. We’ve snuck in a couple back to school shopping days, so we’re ready for the next school year…at least in the physical sense.
Because of baseball schedule for the boys this year, we had to push all travel to the end of the Summer. We just got back from 10 days at our regular spot on 30A (I’ll have a whole blog post about that trip soon!) and are headed to our beach house in NC later this week. I hate being gone from home so much at once, but we had to do it this way! I’ll get back into the swing of things with sharing meal plans, outfits I wore and more useful content as soon as I can, but for now, it’s family time and Summer fun. Here’s some of what we’ve been up to lately.
Before we left for our trip, we got a new trampoline! We had promised the boys one when we moved here and hadn’t pulled the trigger yet. I found this 12ft one for $300 and while I was skeptical, we couldn’t be happier with it. Setup was about 1.5 hours and so far it’s been fantastic.
My small veggie garden of tomatoes, jalapeños and herbs is hanging in there. We had lots of fruit before we left and while everything is a bit dry now, the neighbors also enjoyed some while we were gone. I must say that these tomatoes were the best I’ve eaten in a really long time!
I wore this sunscreen face primer the whole time we were at the beach and it is literally the prettiest! It has light coverage, a nice glow and I didn’t burn the whole time we were in Florida. I didn’t wear anything with it, but it felt like a had a bit of makeup on, without showing it.
My most requested link while we traveled were these bracelets. (Not the sandwich!) This is a 7 bracelet set with rubber beads that is perfect for vacay. I wore it in the ocean, pool and sweating galore. I’ve had this set for 3 years and it’s holding up amazingly!
I got these cargo pants right before our trip. Hello 2000s! They have an elastic drawstring at the ankle that makes them perfect for shorter girls like me. They come in a lot of colors and the whole look is linked here.
Once we got home this week, I decided I needed to try a couple viral recipes I’ve seen floating around. The first is the crispy feta egg. Oh my mercy, so good! You sprinkle feta in a circle in a greased pan, then add an egg to the middle. I toasted up a tortilla, smashed half an avocado on it and then put the sunny side up feta egg in it. I broke my yolk, but it was still so good!
We went back to school supply shopping before Florida, then once we got home we did a day of clothes shopping. We didn’t find a ton, but we got the essentials, like a backpack for Lincoln and Auntie Annes. 🙂
One of the reasons for our few days home this week are several appointments. One was getting Callan’s expander off. When he walked out, they said it’s time for braces and they could start them now! Callan was SO excited and immediately agreed to get started. He was a bit sore after, but it went away pretty quickly with some milkshakes. He looks so grown!
Thanks for hanging in for this life update! I’ll be back for our 30A recap, some what I’ve worn recently, favorite recent Amazon finds and back to school kid picks!
