Things All Moms Need: Including A Happy Butt


Sometimes, I stop and think, “how did I possibly Mother my firstborn without blank {insert completely random life-saving trick that I use for baby #2 here}?

 For my second born’s first 6 months of life, he slept in the bassinet in our room. After about 2 months, his sleep got a little tricky. He woke easily. I was up a lot. We remembered that using the bathroom fan helped when we were bouncing our firstborn to sleep. We ended up pushing the bassinet into our bathroom, turning the fan on and sleeping peacefully. He was still super close to me, but everyone was rested and much happier in the morning. 

 I swaddled babe #2 in the swaddle blankets with Velcro. Until 7 months, when was too chunky for the largest size. Something about that tight wrap made all the difference in the world! I only wish I had known about those suckers with #1. I would have saved myself so much time trying to snugly wrap a blanket around my oversized infant.

 The first time around, I swore by the brand of diapers my sister used. Naturally, I got tons of them for the second time. I opened them all up and organized them in every diaper change area of the house. Then I found out baby #2 is shaped a bit differently and he leaked out of all of them. Moral of that story? Don’t open all your diapers. 

 One thing I knew was a proven success for both babes, and is for every new Mom I’ve recommended it to, is Boudreaux’s Butt Paste.

My firstborn didn’t have many diaper rashes, but when he did, Butt Paste did the trick. My second born seems to have sensitive skin and is much more prone to them. 

 Imagine my sheer joy when he had to be on 20 days of antibiotics last month. Holy diaper rash. It appeared all of a sudden around day 5 and I quickly slathered him in Butt Paste. The next morning, his skin looked normal again. I kept putting it on at night, just to protect his skin, and he didn’t have any other signs of a rash. I now use the Butt Paste as more of a preventative to keep rash at bay. Why? Because a Boudreaux’s butt is a happy butt.

    With my first son I used a different type of diaper rash cream, it worked for the little bit of rashes that he got so I of course stuck with the same brand the second time around, however it didn't work, at all! That is when I switched to Boudreaux's and it is like a magic cream! Not only did it get rid of his rash, it got rid of an acidic burn that he got on his butt from apple juice!! Now I swear by the butt paste & tell every mom I know that they need to buy it, seriously the best stuff ever!

    I started out with Desitin and learned that it doesn't work. I later found out about Butt Paste and it works wonders. No longer are we having week long diaper rashes…they don't last long at all. LOVE BUTT PASTE!

    Besides using barrier creams, we would let them run around to air out without a diaper on for a little while.

    We are dealing with diaper rash right now! Boudreaux's is definitely the best. We also let the baby "air out" about 15 minutes in the morning and evening and that seems to help too. Thanks for the giveaway!

    I've always known when I had a baby we'd use butt paste. It's what the hospital nursery used when I worked there. I'm currently dealing with a rash caused by sleeping through the night for the first time. Treatment is butt paste, completely drying bum with each diaper change and changing diaper frequently. Also leaving the diaper off some. We are 48hours out and much much improved. She'll be getting a nice thick layer every night now, as a preventative.

    I actually thought that Boudreaux's Butt Paste stuff was all hype and good advertising, but this stuff is amazing. We use it on Ari every single day!

    Well, I'm currently pregnant with my first baby, so I have yet to figure out how to soothe her through her diaper rash, but I imagine it will involve diaper ointment!

    Always change wet/soiled diapers asap. I use diaper rash ointment/cream as a preventative. Better safe than sorry. My son got a real bad rash one time and I had to take him to the doctor for RX diaper rash cream. I learned my lesson 🙂 Thanks! ashleygatewood1(AT)gmail.com

    the best thing for our daughter was air. In the summer heat especially, I would let her "air it out" for a little while in front of a fan. Then I would use cream and powder. It always went away pretty quickly with that treatment.

    I provided my son with a lot of free range, no-diaper time. I'd put down a bunch of towels in the living room and let him crawl around naked. It worked like a charm. He rarely experienced rashes after that.

    I always wait until I see signs of a rash first and use some if I need to, but one way I try to prevent it is by using cloth diapers. It seems to help.

    We have some of this Butt Paste and we love it. We've also used fresh aloe. Now that we're using cloth diapers, we rarely have issues with diaper rash.

    Frequent diaper changes and lots of baby powder to keep them dry worked pretty well. I wish I had known about Butt Paste to prevent the rashes that did show up.

    We would try to prevent diaper rash by changing the baby as soon as possible after the diaper is soiled. We also used creams on rashes.

    I personally kick my own rashes by using Gold Bond Medicated Powder in my "hot" zones. No kids here, so hope this is an OK answer since you didn't specify that it had to be a kid rash! LOL
