Happy Monday! We seriously had one of the best weekends and I have to document it all. I feel like I post all the things to Instagram, but I was even lacking over there this weekend because we were too busy with fun!
Thursday night, I’m going to say we kicked off the weekend with a fun mother son date night! This is my 3rd special school event with Lincoln and we had fun glow skating. We left a bit early for a froyo double date with our friends!
Friday – The Hubs and I had a lunch date since he was gone all week and it was the first time we had a chance to debrief. Haha. That night, our church from Charlotte was on tour at the arena here in Grand Rapids. We got to have dinner with some of the staff before heading to the show. It was simply incredible! They are actually live streaming the last night this week, if you want to see it!
The original plan was to leave Friday night to head north for Callan’s basketball tournament, but his games got set later in the day, so we headed up first thing Saturday. Our first stop in Traverse City was to meet the whole team at the Jolly Pumpkin. It was such a great vibe and right on the Traverse Bay. We had 32 people so I felt bad for the girls serving us, but they were amazing and so was the food and beer.
We checked into our room at the Grand Traverse Bay Resort and Spa. We got a tower room that overlooked the bay and got a break in games to catch the sunset. The hotel is sprawling and I really didn’t get enough pictures to show it off. There were several restaurants, coffee shop, candy shop, gift stores, indoor pool and small water park, plus the multiple basketball courts our boys were playing at. The boys crushed their games and took the championship! Callan got his first ring! Later that night, the parents hung in the lobby at the hotel bar. There was plenty of space for us all to spread out and enjoy a little time together.

Traverse City has been on my Michigan bucket list, so I polled the people of Instagram and the most suggested spot was Apache Trout. We ended going there for Sunday brunch and it was good! I don’t know if it was the same vibe as a regular meal, but they had a large amount of breakfast foods, plus plenty of fish, shrimp, prime rib and lots more to choose from.
Another place on my bucket list was Torch Lake! It is supposed to be one of the most beautiful and even though it was chilly, I needed to see it. We lucked out that it wasn’t frozen and the reviews are not wrong. It has the most impressive blue/green water that looks like the caribbean and it’s completely see through! Crystal clear and begged me to come back in the summer!
