How are y’all doing today? I keep swinging between being at peace, knowing God is still God, and losing my mind, chanting “I’M OKAY, WE’RE ALL OKAY” in an endless loop. I put myself to bed early last night because I was mentally exhausted from the day. I’m a schedule, list, order type person and none of that is here right now. No matter how much I planned on structure in the day, the 3 small humans here had other plans.
Here are some sanity savers, that I’m actually preaching to myself, too.
Meal Plan
Make a plan and get what you need. Don’t hoard and don’t go back to the store until necessary. I have endless meal plans posted here! I’ve been a meal planning maniac for probably 3 years now and I love it. It’s a stress I don’t want to worry about now. It’s also a great way to involve the whole family. Search Pinterest for recipes you want to try and let everyone help!
Workout
Shoot for 30 minutes or more of whatever you like to do! I’m going to be sharing more of what I’m doing as the next couple weeks go by. I love running on the treadmill while streaming trashy tv, Beachbody on Demand and lately the Peloton app for yoga and way more than cycling. (It’s free for 90 days!) Here, we’re really enjoying some family bike rides and sunset walks.
Get Up and Get Ready
I love pjs just like the rest of you, but if I get up, workout and get ready in the morning, I’m much more productive. Granted, I might only put on my finest athleisure, but it’s still getting ready! I’m going to be sharing some of my fave cozy clothes soon, too!
Peaceful Atmosphere
Your kids totally feed off your mood. So when I was losing my mind a little crazy yesterday, the kids got a little crazier. I need to turn to my peaceful playlist (steal it!) to keep the atmosphere calm around here. It’s 100 songs that instantly put me at peace and relaxed.
Do Your Best
Let’s face it. This is hard. The stress is high, the walls are closing in and it’s easy to question yourself. Do your best. Find something to praise yourself for at the end of the day. Yesterday, I did a good job teaching my kids to cook dinner. Today, I need to work on being calmer when the kids disobey. Don’t put more pressure on yourself than is already there. At the end of the day, that wine was well deserved!
I’ll leave you with this that I saw on Instagram. What a beautiful reminder that this too shall pass and I pray that our world as a whole are better people because of it!
