I did Whole30, y’all! It’s been 6 days since we finished and I’m SO proud. Oh and I feel SO good. Here are day 29 and 30 meals and our results!
Here are the previous meal plans: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4.
Day 29: Back home from traveling and feeling so excited and terrified for the end! LOVE my new KitchenAid spiralizer and will be using it a ton.

So now what you all really want to know! What were my results?
Weight: lost 9lbs
Measurements: lost 4.5″ from waist and hips
This was shocking to me. I really can’t believe I lost that much weight or inches. But I feel great. My stomach is flat and everything in my closet fits without muffin top!

The Hubs lost 6.5% of his body weight and about 5″. He’s extremely happy with his results and people have noticed the difference in us both, which is really exciting.
A big part of Whole30 is the non scale victories. I started this hoping to clear up some psoriasis and kick some bad habits. Here are things that changed in the 30 days.
Better Habits. I’m not snacking as much, I’m not grabbing my afternoon chocolate/candy fix and I’m not guzzling coffee like it’s my job. All things that needed a serious change. I also discovered that I actually like drinking my coffee when it tastes like coffee. I have been putting a splash of almond milk in it still and haven’t had coffee creamer at all.
More energy. No, I never got the crazy “Tiger Blood” energy that so many talk about, but I do feel more energetic. I didn’t really expect anything to change with this because I sleep about 4-5 hours most nights with the little guy waking up every 2-3 hours still. I used to go right back to bed after Cooper left for school and now I’m up being productive in those precious minutes that everyone is still asleep.
Better workouts. I think part of that is from the increased energy and just the motivation to get my body in shape while I’m eating better.
Psoriasis…the main reason I decided to do this! The first 2 weeks, it was absolutely better. Then, I felt like it started to be more like it was? But then I realized I changed shampoos at some point. So I changed it back and I’ve been far less itchy. In the past several days since we finished, I really have seen a difference.
Healthier kids. With the large amount of fruits and vegetables in the house, my kids have been eating much healthier, too. They have been having their usual breakfasts and lunches for the most part, then eating what we eat for dinner.
Discipline creates discipline. I have purged through my house more in the past 2 weeks than ever before. I really have a desire for health in all areas of my life, so I’m getting rid of clutter!
Would I do it again?
I told my friend a very fast “NO” on day 25 or so. I felt like I was missing out on so much! But I’ve changed my mind. I would totally do it again. Now that I’m done and I have the freedom to eat what I want, I’m not wanting much. The first day afterwards, we had a glass of wine and had brown rice instead of potatoes for dinner. We also added in some corn last week, both of which settled fine. For Easter dinner, we ate everything our hostess made, which was a little cheese in potatoes and sugar in the sweet potatoes. I did eat some Reeses Eggs and they were good. But, I don’t feel like I need more. I don’t think either of us have any real sensitivities to certain foods, but the gluten and dairy are the things I suspect makes my psoriasis worse, so I’ll keep them out/low. I can’t wait to do some more paleo type baking. I don’t like that you can’t make regular foods out of compliant ones, (for example, pancakes out of banana and egg) but I think that was good for my habits. I will be doing it now, though, since I will be able to add a lot more variety that way. I already have my eye on these Chocolate Brownie Bites, Raw Mini Carrot Cakes and Banana Nut Chocolate Chip Muffins!
Our long term plan is to eat this type of diet 80% of the time, but with brown rice, legumes and some greek yogurt. This will be the majority of the week, with some freedom on the weekends. I think it will be good to have certain days to not eat anything bad, because it seems to be a slippery slope for me. The Hubs is already talking about doing it again, maybe even a 2 week one after vacation or just if we feel like we need a reset.
Would I recommend it?
Absolutely. It was hard in the beginning. I’d say the first 2 weeks were the hardest and I felt like I was in the kitchen all the time. Or maybe I was. Haha. The second 2 weeks were pretty easy. I felt like I was in the downhill swing and I knew exactly what foods I needed to have for meals. I could whip up food way easier once I got a good grasp on what was allowed. You do need a buddy, though! Having The Hubs do it with me as well as my friends Laura, Lisa and Candace, made all the difference. I had those days where I wanted to quit and they talked me off the ledge! You’ll want to do some serious planning ahead. Think about events before you set your start date, then plan out your meals, at least for the first 2 weeks. Trader Joes and Whole Foods were great for me. If you have any questions, I’m happy to help!

I love this recap. If I ever delivery baby #3 (granted I am still about 3 weeks away from my due date) but with the drs so sure I was going early and haven't yet it feels like forever) I would LOVE to attempt something similar. My biggest concerns are – I am a strict vegetarian and this seems very meat based and my daughter has severe allergies to nuts, dairy and gluten so the dairy and gluten would be easy to cut out (since we already do but not being able to substitute nuts for corn based thing would be hard). Phew.

Hmmm. Yes, that seems like it would be tough. I ate a lot of meat, organic, but still meat. I'm really not sure where you would get your protein without it!

I'm considering trying a full 30 days. My husband is eating Paleo-ish he has really bad psoriasis and the doctor recommended it for him. We have been eating a lot better since the change and his psoriasis is tons better.
Molly says
Try the full 30! It really cleans out your system and then you can maintain the healthier eating!

I'm on day 3 – so far so good. Did you eat a pre and / or post workout meal as suggested in the book(s)?
Molly says
I usually workout before breakfast and then eat. It worked well for me that way!
