Bold Makeup, Step by Step


You may notice that I’m a bit of a stick in the mud when it comes to makeup. I don’t venture much from my norm, mostly because I don’t feel like I’m that good at it. I love a good step-by-step guide. (Remember my love for the Mary Kay® eye bundle?!) 

 How thrilled was I to see that not only is Mary Kay® the Official Beauty Sponsor of Project Runway Season 13, but that they are sharing tutorials for two featured looks!

As I try to stay on top of current trends, I love watching Project Runway. I do need to keep up on my makeup trends a little better, though. So, watching the videos and getting inspiration from Mary Kay’s Global Makeup Artist, Luis Casco, was just perfect for me. You can check out the videos over here. 

I went ahead and tried the two looks that are featured there. 

 First up, the Graphic Eye Look. 

 My first thought after I created this look was a little shocked, and, as the day went on, I was totally in love with it. It was bold, but not over the top.

I think this would be a perfect look for girls night out, or a date night, with this outfit. 
I really love the lip in this look, too. It’s the True Dimensions Lipstick in Pink Cherie with the NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Au Naturel on top. Totally an every day look that I’ll keep wearing!

Next Project Runway inspired look is the Emerald Smoke Look.

This look felt like more makeup than I normally wear. After seeing it in pictures, it actually wasn’t as dramatic as it seemed in my mirror. I really love the bold color, even though it was initially out of my comfort zone. My favorite product in this look, was the Eyeliner. I normally have quite the smudging after a day of wearing and it definitely stayed put. 

 This look would be perfect for a fancier event, like a fall wedding, with this outfit.

    My favorite look is the Graphic Eye look; that pop of blue liner is gorgeous, and I love the neutral shadows (also great mascara) and pink lip too! 🙂
