A full recap of our family weekend at Jellystone Park Golden Valley, including our favorite things to do and how we camped!
Last weekend, we got to sneak away for a family weekend to Bostic, North Carolina for a stay at Jellystone Park Golden Valley. They invited us to come check out their brand new park and we had an absolutely amazing time. We haven’t spent much time at all in the North Carolina mountains and that’s the end of that! It’s so gorgeous and only about 90 minutes from Charlotte.
Lodging
Since I live with stinky boys on the regular, we opted for a clean “glamping” weekend and stayed in one of the Laurel Cove Cottages. AC, beds, a coffee pot and no bugs are on my list of things I like on a vacation. What can I say?! The good news is, if camping in a tent is your thing, you can do that. Want to stay in a glamping tent perched on a mountain? You can do that too. There is a place to stay for everyone at Golden Valley. Our cottage had a combined kitchen/living area, 2 bedrooms and a detached, private bathroom. We had our own outdoor space with a fire pit and picnic table that overlooked the mini golf course and was lined with string lights. It was quite magical. We saw the Sycamore Loft Cabins that are about to be available while we were there and we want to book one of those next year! They have a bathroom inside, which the boys don’t care about, but I think that would be perfect!
Activities
We got a golf cart and I highly recommend that, since the grounds are pretty sprawling! It was also tons of fun to drive around and explore in it. The water park was a huge hit for the boys. Okay, The Hubs and I went down the water slides several times, too! There is a huge playground, jump pad, sports court, wagon rides, movies by the lake, meeting Yogi Bear and mini golf that are all included with your stay. The boys probably played mini golf 5 times! Hiking trails are coming soon and I can’t wait to go back and explore those! Lazer tag, pedal boats, gem mining and some arts and crafts are available at an additional charge.
Food
In addition to having a store that sells a decent variety of food you might need, there is a restaurant on the property. The Creekside Cafe sells ice cream (the boys favorite!) wood fired pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, burgers and salads. The Lodge has an all you can eat pancake breakfast on certain days that was delicious! They are in the process of adding a Tavern as well.
I will say that this was one of our most relaxing trips to date. No schedule, no rushing. Just a completely peaceful atmosphere and no stress. I highly recommend heading to Jellystone Camp Golden Valley for a little time to unplug and recharge with the ones you love the most!
Thank you, Jellystone Camp Golden Valley for hosting our family for the weekend. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
