Memorial Day weekend 2024 was a great one! I am so thankful and honored to be an American and forever grateful for those who gave their lives for our freedom. Our official kickoff to Summer is all because of the brave!
We spent Memorial Day weekend pretty darn untraditional, in the sense that we weren’t on a body of water or BBQing, but we had a great time nonetheless.
Friday, we let Callan play hookie and went to the Senior PGA event in Benton Harbor, MI. We were in a suite on the 18th hole and had an amazing view of the players finishing up their rounds. It was so nice to have one on one time with Cal! Since it was the 18th hole, he went over to say hi to the players when they finished and he came away with gloves, golf balls, tees and ball markers, which he thought was pretty darn cool.

When we got home, I packed up all the food we needed for Saturday morning’s early baseball tournament. I like these meal prep containers with compartments for our baseball days. The boys tend to like to pick in between games more than a big meal, so I did cubed cheeses, salami, pepperoni, fruits, veggies, chicken salad and pasta salad. I also cut Kings Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise and put the entire thing back in the package. It’s easy to make a single sandwich with turkey and the cracker cut cheese for in between games! I also made some gluten free protein brownies and they were insane. I used this recipe, but added in chopped almonds and marshmallows to make them more of a rocky road. Highly recommend trying them!
Saturday baseball started at 8:30 so we left the house at an early 7:15am! Callan played 2 games, winning the first and losing by 2 in the second. I truly love being out there watching my boys and have taken on the roll of DJ mom for all the walkup music.
We had house showings that night so we quickly cleaned the house up and headed out to dinner at the golf course. I wore these white denim shorts (that is my 3rd wash in them!) for the first time and I love them. A tad longer and more loose fitting make them a perfect mom short. We ended the night with a bonfire at the neighbors house, which was perfect for the cool evening.

Sunday we were back at it at baseball! Callan pitched a complete game and they won to win their whole bracket! Proud of this boy is an understatement!
My baseball mom look has evolved into wearing hats more. It’s so dang windy here in Michigan that it’s the only thing that makes sense! I got this cute patriotic bracelet set from Amazon for $9! Will be great for July 4th and Labor Day as well.

On actual Memorial Day, we woke up to chilly rainy weather. It felt weird for sure, but I didn’t mind having a whole day to do absolutely nothing! We took a walk while I wore my heavy winter coat, but still cut it short because we were cold! 🙃 I can’t say that I will miss the abnormally cold weather Michigan has, but I am feeling this squeeze of our time here coming to an end. I’m wanting to do all the things with our friends and all the exploring we can over the next couple of months!
